Mayor's visit to new WCH hospital

Over the past few weeks there have been a lot of concerns expressed about what services will be provided on the West Cumberland site.

Whoever is on government, we will need to fight to keep a good range of safe, effective, patient friendly services at the hospital.

However, I don't think it is in doubt that we will get the refurbished hospital - the fight is about what services it will offer.

As morale is a key part of recruitment and retention, it is essential to sound the praises for what is good and recognize what is happening for the better as well as to fight our corner when there are issues in the other direction.

The Mayor of Copeland has recently made a visit to the construction site on the hospital where the new buildings are taking place and told Cumbria Crack that he was "100% reassured."

and here are quotes from the Mayor and from "Save our services" campaigner Gerald Richardson about the new hospital

"I feel 100% reassured after visiting the new hospital. I never imagined I would be walking around a world class facility like this in West Cumbria."

"Years of worry floated away when I worked into the new facility. The scale of it is jaw-dropping."
